Messages: Hey Guys, I am in the market for a big skid. I like the spec's on the but It is about 12k more than the bobcat. I will be using it for loading scrap metal in debris boxes with a grapple and to load junk cars into my crusher.
I would also like to get a scrap metal shear in the near future. Thanks in advance Brenden. Messages: 5, Some here have a Mustang equivalent and could give you an idea how they like it.
Gehl Skid Steer Seats
If you are looking new or used, a Case could work maybe? Messages: 7, Messages: 2, I have scrap metal customers that use S's and S's with foam filled tires with counter weights. They love it What dealers do you have in town??? SellingIronFeb 25, Messages: 10, An articulated front end loader would be best, loading cars into crushers is best done with a loader than a skid as you are further away from the crusher and you can see so much more as you keep pressure on the car while the crusher runs.
Not to mention that a skid steer will throw you around over bumpy terrain and a loader will keep you steadier. I have a Mustang same as over hrs only problem the alternator just quit charging, very happy with the machine ,if I have to buy another machine and this one wasn't built anymore my second choice will be the Case.
I also borrowed it to move some dirt once, and i was not impressed at all. The controls are very jerky. It is one beast of a machine though! The large machines as far as I know is a Mustang design shared by both Mustang and Gehl ,I don't know about now but they were making their separate models ,two guys that I know one has a Mustang the other is a Gehl they are both in the same op class ,the Mustang hands down a better machine all around they swap machines all the time ,not the same machines, these are year models ,Im not saying the Gehl is a bad machine ,I came to the conclusion that now days every manufacturer makes good machines, if you have any doubt look around here must of us think that we make the right decission on our purchase ,hardly ever you hear anybody complaining about their machine ,except BobcatRon when he moved over to Caterpillar.

Worlds Largest Skid Loader! The V skid loader vertical-lift arm design was created for maximum reach, superior strength and optimal operator visibility. Providing more reach at full lift height is optimal for applications that require loading and stacking at high heights. By keeping the load closer to the machine, lift capacities are increased over radial-lift models.
Height to Hinge Pin - Fully Raised mm : The versatile Gehl Radial-Lift Skid Loaders are designed to meet the demanding needs of contractors, municipalities, landscapers, mining, dairies and agricultural operations. Based on the machine's rated operating capacity of 3, pounds, the E is the largest skid-steer around except, of course, for its twin in the Mustang line, the model We thought this size distinction made the machine an interesting candidate for a Hands-On-Earthmoving evaluation. Gehl's Kelly Moore, product manager for skid-steer and compact track loaders, and Lori Heidecker, marketing services manager, arranged the loan of the E.
About the only option the E didn't have was high-flow hydraulics rated at 41 gpm. But with a standard auxiliary flow of up to 29 gpm, the machine had more than enough hydraulic horsepower to handle the work tools that accompanied it. The E arrived with a inch power rake, an inch vibratory roller, an 8-foot dozer blade with powered angle and tilt functions and its big 1-cubic-yard bucket.
E-version refinement. Our introduction to Gehl's Series models actually goes back to latewhen CE conducted a field comparison between the then-new with a rated operating capacity of 3, pounds and the DXT, which, with a standard rated operating capacity of 2, pounds, had previously been the largest model in the Gehl line.
The big jump in capacity, explained Moore at the time, was to meet the demand of customers who needed a larger machine for handling taller trucks and heavier attachments.
In the intervening years, says Moore, the big machine's market acceptance has exceeded Gehl's expectations. We also consider it a viable replacement for certain compact wheel loaders, especially if maneuverability, cycle speed and attachment performance are important.
And, it's considerably less expensive than wheel loaders having similar horsepower, capacity and lift height. The recently introduced E, compared with its predecessor, has gained some weight, now tipping the scale at 10, pounds. The weight gain, resulting principally from frame changes and from structural changes in the lift arm, gives the new model pounds more rated operating capacity and significantly more bucket breakout force — now rated at 8, pounds.
The engine also has been changed. But in a bit of a turnaround from the typical practice of increasing power in new models, the E actually has 15 less horsepower than its predecessor.
The new hp Cummins B4. Customers were asking for Cummins power, says Moore, and the chosen engine allowed the E to delay Tier-3 emissions regulations and the related design complexity that compliance would have entailed such as charge-air cooling.
Retained from the predecessor model, though, is a long list of features, including the inch wheelbase, lift height of inches at the bucket hinge pinvertical-path PowerView lift arm, large Rexroth servo transmission, and radial-piston drive motors. Opinions from the shop. The first stop for the E was the Local shop, where Moore, Heidecker and Peters reviewed the features of the machine and its work tools for the Local's technical staff.
Basically, all agreed that the E was an impressive machine, but since not much in the way of design detail gets past this experienced crew, they had a few observations. For example, after seeing the heavyweight attachments that the E was to use, Rick Bewsey questioned the capability of the machine's universal-style coupler, wondering if it had the mass and strength to handle these large tools.Construction Equipment Guide covers the nation with its four regional newspapers, offering construction and industry news and information along with new and used construction equipment for sale from dealers in your area.
