But one modding team has decided they need to be closer than just two distinct titles, they need to be one and the same game. They're porting the combat system from Sekiro into Skyrim, creating a hybrid experience that is both open world, and deliciously dangerous to fight in. Called The LertKrush Sekiro combat overhaul, the Skyrim mod builds upon the efforts of other modders, like the creators of tktk's Ultimate Combat mod for Skyrim Special Edition, but from there LertKrush has done a rather passable job at making Skyrim feel like an expansive Sekiro level.

As PCGamesN explainsit includes blocks, sword swipes, declection effects, counters, dodge-rolling, and some well crafted hitboxing for different attacks. The only problem is that the mod can't be released to the public just yet. Since it's based on tktk's work, LerKrush needs to get permission to make it widely available. Presumably it will come, but the future of this mod is still uncertain at this time.

Still, if it does make it online eventually, it's set to be called Skyrim Die Twice. Can you think of a better name? Search form Search. Your name. What is the domain address of this site? Lucky Skyrim. Creaky animations aside, it looks like a pretty faithful adaptation of Sekiro's incredibly tense sword fights. In Skyrim, unmodded melee amounts to just hitting stuff and occasionally blocking.

Skyrim Mod Brings Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Combat to the Game

It's not great, but it is very accessible. With this Sekiro mod, however, you need to wear your opponent down by deflecting their attacks, which drains their stamina and eventually staggers them, giving you an opening. Enemies can do the same to you, but thankfully the mod also gives you ninja-like agility, letting you roll out of the way and, if your enemy is a cowardly archer, deflect their arrows. The mod also borrows some of the visual cues Sekiro uses, helping you to nail the timing.

While the mod is finished, you can't rush off to somewhere like Nexus Mods to download it just yet. Lert Krush originally created it just for themselves, but the reception to their videos has been positive enough to make them want to release it so we can all give it a try, but there's one speed bump. It's a modification of Ultimate Combat SEso they'll need to get permission from its creator before the mod can be published.

Hopefully we'll be able to take it for a spin soon, and in the meantime you can practise deflecting in preparation. Or you could browse our list of the best Skyrim mods. Please deactivate your ad blocker in order to see our subscription offer.

Although the animations look clunky, the mod itself does a good job of recreating the tense sword fighting scenarios in Skyrim. The unmodded combat in Skyrim is pretty plain, requiring you to hit targets and block when the enemy attacks you.

Of course, it gets boring after a point of time. This Sekiro combat mod brings a breath of fresh air to Skyrim's combat and requires players to deflect enemy attacks and wear down their stamina, leaving them open for an attack.

Enemies can also deflect your attacks, but you have abilities that let you roll out of your enemy's way and recoup for your next move. You can also deflect arrows from cowardly archers. The mod also has certain visual cues as seen in Sekirowhich can help you master deflect timings.

However, you cannot just rush to Nexus Mods, download the mod, and start deflecting dragons. The mod was originally created by Lert Krush and was shown off in a YouTube video. However, there's a catch to it. The mod is actually a modification of the Ultimate Combat SE mod, so Lert Krush has to get permission from the original creator before publishing the mod. Meanwhile, you can hop in to Sekiro and perfect those deflect timings while you wait.

This will make players strategize fights instead of attacking recklessly. This unique combat system has been widely successful and has been used in other popular titles as well. Since the mod is a combat overhaul, it needs permission to use another mod called Ultimate Combat, which is the framework mod for combat changes.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice proved to be one of 's biggest titles, earning itself a number of Game of the Year awards, including a spot on Comicbook. One of the most beloved aspects of the game is its strong combat system. In fact, the combat has been so well-received that players want to see it implemented in other games, too!

The mod looks really impressive! LertKrush essentially simulated Sekiro 's posture system through Skyrim 's stamina bar. By successfully timing each block, players can create new openings, but messing up that timing will result in a loss of stamina. In the mod, every enemy in the game also has their own unseen stamina bar, greatly increasing Skyrim 's potential level of difficulty. In the video above, the steeper level of challenge is definitely noticeable, as the player and the enemy repeatedly exchange blocks.

Since its release inSkyrim has been considered one of the greatest games of all-time. Critics heaped praise on the game's art direction and magic system. The game's combat, however, has never been quite as well-regarded. In the years since, modders have made a number of attempts to improve it, but the Sekiro -influenced combat system LertKrush pulled off in the Skyrim Die Twice mod just might be a cut above the rest.

It's always interesting to see what the mod community can come up with. There's a huge level of passion involved when modders decide to create projects like these. The Skyrim Die Twice mod was technically created by a single modder, though it should be noted that LertKrush built it by expanding on tktk's Ultimate Fighting mod. While LertKrush has expressed an interest in making the mod publicly available, they're waiting for permission from the original mod's creators before doing so.

In addition to passion, the community clearly has a high level of respect for one another! What do you think of the Skyrim Die Twice mod? Do you plan on trying it when it's released?
